Little X
Video Director

Little XToronto native and current New York-based Little X, has directed music videos for various artists, from DMX to Redman, and Deborah Cox to the Roots. But X not only consistently brings his visions to the music screen - he has delved into the world of directing commercials with his own specialized take on marketing. The firmer guidelines which come with that territory appealed to this 20-something year old. And he's learned from the best. Big Dog Films took him on as an intern at the age of 20, where he was guided by iconic director Hype Williams himself. Little X didn't only use his comic art skills -- he took notes and closely watched Williams at work. Today, the ever in-demand, photo-phobic X confesses that before Hype, he knew nothing about film. He stands firm on the belief that "The artist is our product and I can't compromise them."

Mike Zafiris
Flavor Pool Director

Mike ZafirisFlavor Pool was conceived nine years ago when the record pool Mike Zafiris, had initially joined to keep up on the latest vinyl showed no interest in promoting hip hop or R&B music. When only Sony Music showed an interest, Mike was forced to go to the U.S. where Elektra, Delicious Vinyl, Mercury, Eastwest and Atlantic gave him their support. As the popularity of the pool and urban music grew, Canadian labels began filling Urban Music Consultant positions. Finally, a link between labels and DJ's started to form. Since then, Flavor Pool has gone national, spanning four provinces and six major cities with a roster of a hundred and twenty DJ's. The web page www.flavorpool.com is a useful and efficient communication forum among DJ's and label reps.

J-Swing seems to be the don of the Vancouver urban scene. His consistent presence and contribution to the elevation of everything hip hop has boded well for him as a DJ, radio show host, mixed tape guru, artist manager and his work at Double Up Records. The World Wide Ride show, which he hosted with Checkmate and DJ Flipout, as well as his program at UBC's CITR (the longest running hip hop show in Van City), helped break out new music and expose other Canadian artists to the Vancouver market.
